Autism Expert and pioneer in the field of Autism, Psychologist and BCBA, Dr. Doreen Granpeesheh is answering viewer questions about behavior challenges, resources for adults on the autism spectrum, ABA and more! Tune in and check it out!

4:45 I'm looking for some help I'm a single mom raising a four-year-old on the Spectrum

5:30 Good morning, I need help finding living accommodations for my 28-year-old son

6:24 Hi there!! My son is 4 and he can comment and answer questions. But still can’t ask questions. He engages with adults. But doesn’t accept kids at all. He blacks out the kids doesn’t respond to them.

I tried pairing his cousins but didn’t work. I tried all the ways to bring peer play. Now I’m thinking of stopping the ABA and try bio medical to facilitate peer play/engagement

15:34 I'm looking for some help I'm a single mom raising a four-year-old on the Spectrum. I feel as if i am suffocating I don’t have a big family, no support, I need to find peace. for example, I have anger issues and I'm afraid of disciplining Colton because I don't want to get to upset. I also am a recovering Alex I have PTSD so I have a severe panic disorder already please help me with what I can do or where I can reach out so that I don't have this ball of anxiety going on around me all the time because it sponges off onto my son. My biggest question is about CBD T and tinctures.

23:38 I am Zara from London with two children on spectrum. My son is two and he squeezes things and my hands

27:17 I’m asking as I fought for my son to get an IEE and services missed. I got an advocate as well as attorney and we were offered 2 years at a private school designed for kids on the spectrum.

33:19 Hi Dr. Doreen, our 9 yr old son who is not affected my autism very much, but he still needs assistance. He was discharged from ABA, Speech, and OT, but as a SkillsGlobal user, he still needs help. Can we hire an RBT and do Telehealth with a Card provider? We’re in Pennsylvania, and the closest CARD center is over an hour away in NJ.

36:40 My son with med/high-function ASD has a wealth of words & comprehension .. bottle it is often bottled up -- until something he is fixated on fills his thoughts. .. Hence, when he achieves things & reads or creates with crafts- WE BECOME VERY CONGRATULATORY & high with praise . Mistake #1 - our response can be TOO dramatic & 'not normal' - BOOM, TOO MUCH STIMULATION & A IMMEDIATE MELTDOWN, ANGER . and suddenly everything shuts down for 40min - and is started to become angry, shrieking, and "starting" to become aggressive-physical

PROBLEM #1 - remain silent & neutral, somewhat punitive WITHOUT projecting no-care & 'Mom-Dad' are not a safe place now. .. HARD-HARD because our 'almost 5yr' can unravel on a dime.

43:03 Good morning, I need help finding living accommodations for my 28-year-old son (California)

45:28 Hello ladies. My son tends to throw toys when he gets angry.when i place a demand or say no to something hes getting mad and throwing. Im trying different ways to stop it. As its increasing.

6:15 Hi from Australia. Up late with my son on the spectrum that refuses to sleep at night. Help He is 11 and nonverbal

16:49 we are try to work on elopement issues with my little. for some reason separation anxiety is very high . he has eloped with his support person while i am at work thank fully he only made it out the door and was caught before he made it to our drive way. 4 x last month scary

25:04 My 4.5 yo ASD son is making progress (esp. cog., lang.), but still struggles w attention. He often gets stuck in his own mind (thinking about things or whispering under his breath)& doesn't tune in. When he does tune in, he can answer questions (including some how and why) and do simple math/reading and talks mostly in full sentences with decent grammar. He doesn't really stim (other than a little vocal stimming), so I think he needs this “in his head” time to decompress. But he also needs attention for school. Will this improve in time? How do I help? I think he may have some slow processing speed, but the reason I don't think that is all of it is sometimes he answers pretty quick, and other times (when he's tuned out) its VERY slow (or not at all) 40:31 Do you recommend taking a break from therapy? Aiden has been in therapies. We’re taking a break from OT. Aiden seems to be more frustrated lately. I don’t want to take a break from ABA or speech. Since OT is only 30 minutes I feel like the therapist just wants to get things done Definitely not enough high reinforcement

47:45 There are children’s hospitals that do this now. It’s called “episodes of care”. I hate it. They force families to take breaks.

52:42 My son was diagnosed with Social Communication Disorders (SCD) at 2 years old and after that we begin therapy: sensory integration, speech therapy, occupational therapy, floor time, behavior therapy (not ABA), playgroup with shadow teacher (only 2 months). He can mention words, animal, vegetable, fruit (tach) at 2 years 9 months old. But, since he was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) at 2 years 10 months old, we start begin with ABA therapy at 3 years old. For starter, 20 hours a week (home ABA), now we increase to 30 hours a week but with the different center ABA therapy (ABA verbal behavior) and we plan to increase the hours by joining the third center (in Jakarta there is a maximum hours per week therapy in one single center). Now at 3 years 3 months, he can mention more functional words, tach, and mand (he want milk, he want his mom accompany him, he want to sleep etc., not so much). No aggressive or challenging behavior problems. He is a sweet boy who can hug his dad or mom or grandpa, know his name and how old is he. Also, ABA therapy has increase his eye contact. We also done biomedical therapy: antifungal for his yeast overgrowth, planning diet, and MB12 shots. My questions are: is it right to join 3 centers therapy (one in home service ABA, and two in the centers with ABA/VB directed by BCBA) and what is your opinion about ABLLS and ABA/verbal behavior because the centers use these two methods for assessment and therapy? And last, the pediatrician gives my son risperidone (little dose daily) although he not shows any challenging or aggressive behavior, is it right?

57:01 Whenever I try to bring up medication, I feel like I get judged by doctors. What are your thoughts on adding vitamin b12, b6 to his diet? will this help? My child has been doing ABA for about 3 years now. He is 6 years old. He says BAH and papa which is great and I encourage him. But I wonder if medication can help him focus and encourage speech.

Perspective is everything. When we can see things through another person’s eyes we can begin to understand and appreciate their unique point of view. The Autism Community has a new way of sharing its many perspectives. The Autism Network is debuting its newest podcast, Stories from the Spectrum. This new series features the voices, talents and vision of artists who identify as being either on the Autism Spectrum or as being Neurodiverse. This first episode will premiere on the Autism Network and all its social media channels and then be available as a podcast on all podcast platforms. Stories from the Spectrum: Content by and for a Neurodiverse World, features artists, animators, filmmakers, writers, journalists, poets, and bloggers who are neurodiverse and telling their stories, how they want to tell them.

The first episode will feature 6 short films on a wide variety of topics. WyArt is a short documentary by James Miller, a neurodiverse filmmaker, and focuses on the art of Wyatt Jackson, a brilliantly talented artist on the spectrum. Stephen Gaiber, The Autistic Traveler, presents his review of The Grammy’s Museum. Award winning animator Dane Parsons shares his uplifting film, Mace: The Animated Short. Inspirational Artist and Animator Dani Bowman shares her up close view of being a businesswoman and artist in Marvels of Media. In My Name is Jordan, Jordan Oswald shows off his storytelling skills in a short video that was created for a 2-week project during the pandemic. The final video is a feel-good music video, circa 2018, from artists at Spectrum Laboratory entitled, Cheers!

6:48 What is Your take on teaching consequences?

10:44 My Son's Interest in Learning Chinese If my child (4) is showing interest in learning Chinese should I encourage it? He is behind in speech for English, I don’t want to confuse him, but I have heard you say we should foster their interests.

11:20 Navigating Autism

12:13 What inspired your to write navigating Autism?

14:22 In Navigating Autism you talk about the importance of looking at the whole unique individual, and getting regular comprehensive evaluations. I agree, but I find this is hard to get physicians and educators on board for – what do you suggest we do when we get push back at the doctor’s office or at school. 16:58 What was your favorite ride at the county fair?

20:17 Books by Dr. Temple Grandin

25:59 My son (8) is obsessed with the moving parts of anything. I have to lock up the toaster or he will take it apart! How can I feed his desire to understand what things do without losing all my appliances or risking him hurting himself? I should add, he takes the things apart but shows no interest in putting them back together.

28:34 Hello’s from other people that recently interviewed Dr. Temple Grandin

30:56 Best of Autism Ed Talks on April 26th, 2022!

32:03 Parents are equal Team Members, Are you seeing a trend of Parents that just dropping their kids off and not participating in their child's learning?

33:16 Why understanding an individual’s sensory issues is important.

37:16 Since April is World Autism Awareness/Acceptance Month, what kind of work do you want to see improve more to support our Autism Community?

38:19 How did you learn to handle the sensory things that bothered you? Do you still have sensory things that you can’t stand? What do you do to help yourself when you are at work?

38:44 I am on the spectrum and I have a degree in community planning, I cannot get a job in my field. I get interviews but I know I come across as being different and then I don’t get the job. I don’t know what I am doing that is wrong and I am very frustrated. What should I do?

42:12 My daughter is 16 and I have been told we should start the conservatorship conversation. I want to keep my daughter safe, but I also want her to have as much independence as possible. What do you recommend. She is 16 and verbal, but she is not safe and is a little boy crazy.’

44:19 Do you find it easier to be friends with people on the spectrum? Is it different for you ? In what way?

45:47 There is more and more discussion about the way autism presents in women – that it is different than in males. I would love to hear your thoughts on how it presents in women.

46:18 Did Temple watch Squid Game? What does she like to watch?

In this episode of Ask Dr. Doreen, Shannon Penrod and Dr. Doreen Granpeesheh discuss questions written in by viewers about ABA therapy, Stimming, Speech and more! Check it out!

5:49 My son has HPHPA bacteria, and my family doctor and his pediatrician refused to prescribe antibiotic. Why? because I did a second OAT with Great Plains Lab. What do I do? My son regressed into autism

12:30 Hi Doreen, my son is 4-year-old and attends center-based ABA Therapy for about 34 hours per week. It's been a year since he started, but he still stims a lot like flapping hands, spinning, jumping, verbal stim. He also got Speech apraxia I just want to know how my son will responds to the therapy in coming years, with the experience you have as you have seen so many kids, I am very worried about him, as I feel some time he is progressing and sometimes he is regressing with his stimming behaviors.

23:00 Self-Stimulatory Behavior

25:16 Our 4.5yr boy has advanced far ... as a update & hope for many. He started with Early Intervention ... OT, PT, Aba ( home & PreK ), and Speech Therapy have allowed him to blossom... He MAY be considered twice-exceptional now .. BUT falls very short with social growth AND yes - VERBAL STIMMING and focus issues will make 5yr kindergarten a BIG challenge. ANY INPUT?

35:57 I’m TERRIFIED of sending my son to kindergarten. I kept him back this year to do one more year of full time Aba. They don’t allow ABA or 1 on 1 aides here. I’m just terrified

38:39 Hi Dr. Doreen, my twins will be 3 years in June. They recently got their VB Mapp Assessment done and they are on level 2 (incomplete) and some splinter skills complete in level 3 I.e. reading & math

Also tasting is complete of level 3. Our BCBA warns us that some kids get stuck at level 2. Is that true? What can we do now to avoid getting stuck?

42:09 Would AIT help with verbal stimming?

46:44 My son starts to run around nonstop with vocal stemming in Costco I don’t know what it is if it’s the bright lights or noises and if I hold his hands, he gets angry. It only happens in Costco no other stores I’ve tried noise canceling headphones and sunglasses, but I haven’t figured out what it is.

49:33 We need assistance in getting my son ABA therapy. Our insurance covers it but the deductible and the out-of-pocket quotes make the weekly fees exorbitant. Is there an advocate we can engage to assist us in getting these costs reduced based on our income or a grant we can apply for to assist? He is 11. We have been doing biomedical but the school he attends believes it will assist him in his academics. It is the best school we have been to and he does have trouble communicating still. He is fine for me at home. He understands my directions and even can do some home tasks at home and without any direction at all; he self directs. At school is another matter. They tell me he is not a behavioral issue at all, just having trouble with the verbal communication piece. Any assistance or guidance in tackling this hurdle would be great.

51:42 hi, i am from india...using skils and loving it...just wanted to know what does a typical day in 25-40 hour aba look like for a verbal child, level 3 vbmapp.. 5years age...

57:31 My son is pushing other kids and his preschool reduced his attendance to just one hour and I am not motivated to take him there. Do you think I am wrong? a specialized school. that cannot deal with a 4-year-old. He wants to play but he doesn't know how.

Autism Expert and pioneer in the field of Autism, Psychologist and BCBA, Dr. Doreen Granpeesheh is answering viewer questions about aggression, potty training, uncontrollable laughter and more! Watch Ask Dr. Doreen LIVE Tuesday's at 10am PT!

#AutismExpert #Autism #AutismPodcast https://www.autismnetwork.com/category/ask-dr-doreen/

https://www.tiktok.com/@askdrdoreen?

7:57 I want to ask this question: Please can the group tell me, after you have had a diagnosis. Why have I been told by family friends and partners, your normal. You don’t have Autism?

14:02 Hi Dr. Doreen. What services are out there when your child has graduated from ABA, is getting bigger (12 years old) and still displays aggressive behaviors? How do we keep him and everyone else safe?

27:03 Hi Doreen My son attends center based ABA it's been a year he has started, but we still has got problem with his stimming and lack of Independent play, I can't control his stim. obsession with fans.

37:25 I was thinking about doing a respite exchange program for single parents. Because gosh, it is HARD when you don’t/can’t qualify for respite. I have 3 special needs kids and new to the state of TX with ZERO help.

39:04 I have a question concerning couples on the spectrum. If one individual recognizes that they’re on the spectrum, And is figuring out their own triggers and corks, but the other individual does not acknowledge this is sudden realization, and continues to treat and converse with the other individual as if there is no processing issue when it comes to emotion. Issues like tone, not hearing exactly what the other person is saying, or internalizing what they’re saying .. I.e. imposter syndrome, or goes catatonic during high pressure debates, is becoming an extreme issue.

44:10 Hi Doren, My son is 4 years old, he has phases of 6-7 uncontrollable laughter everyday ? Is it sugar or something else?

48:12 Hi Shannon. What do u think it’s mora helpful ABA or SON RISE? Specifically, To deal with an aggressive child.

51:35 Hello, just going to put a warning that this is going to be TMI and a little bit gross, I hope it’s okay. I am 19F and I have a twin brother who is autistic and non verbal. My mother is his primary career, and I moved back home last year to help her out as my brother has gotten older and bigger than her which can sometimes be difficult for her. From us being young children to around 16, my brother was perfectly using the toilet by himself, for pooping and peeing. Just to add, he also really likes the sound of flushing and coldness of the toilet seat surface, so he often flushes the toilet just to hear the sound and he might sit on it fully clothed whilst playing games which is not really an issue. Around 16, he started pooping on the floor in the bathroom instead of the toilet. Initially we thought he was constipated and struggling to go so my mum started looking closely at his toileting routine and took him to the GP and everything was said to be fine. After a week or so of doing this we tried having him sit on the toilet (as in watching him about to go and telling him verbally to sit down) which resulted in massive meltdowns including self harming. He also stopped wiping himself with tissue afterwards. This was three years ago and since then it gotten considerably worse especially as my mum was afraid of him hurting himself if we made him sit on the toilet. He is now 19 and now poops on the floor anywhere in the house when we’re not looking, and occasionally will pee on carpet etc. Most recently my mother had some friends over, and she assumed my brother was in his room watching TV or drawing. A guest got up to go to the kitchen for some water and my brother had left a particularly liquid-y surprise for us on the kitchen floor.

Autism Expert and pioneer in the field of Autism, Psychologist and BCBA, Dr. Doreen Granpeesheh is answering viewer questions about ABA and How to find good ABA, taking medication & more! Tune in and check it out!

5:40 My sister [35F] is leaving her husband and is upset. I want to help, but I am autistic. What things should I [28M] try to do to help her feel better? I'm also a hikikomori/agoraphobic/social recluse, which makes things harder. She's staying with me and our parents with her two sons at the moment. [8M] and [4M]. She was with her husband [38M] for about 19 years, and they got married about 10 years ago. No-one's told me the details on why she's leaving him, but she's told our parents. They understand these things more, I think, and would give way better advice than I could since I haven't had a girlfriend before. All I know is that 'He did something silly' and that they've struggled in their marriage for the past few months. Today I made pasta as dinner for me and her. I've also looked after her kids at points in the past two days! I'm not sure if her kids have been told what's going on, but the oldest one isn't stupid and must know something isn't right. I guess I am asking for general advice on how to help, but how I should react to things. I am sad because I have known him most of my life, and we regularly have spoken about computer games we've been playing. Does this mean I should remove him as a friend on PlayStation Network? How should I help my sister in ways I probably haven't thought of?

13:26 hi Dr. doreen here is a question. my mom broke her wrist on Wednesday and my stepdad has had to take a leave of absence due to it. I don’t feel like I’m doing a good job coping with this. i am caring more about my routines like jersey mikes on Tuesdays. I need help handling this better. this is causing my family a lot of hassle. please help me be a better son and to do better

let me add on. my stepdad is also helping me a lot as well. and he is one of those people that doesn’t get autism in general. he is a southern person who believes in rules. I want to help him as well. please help my family. also, with my sister in college and doing her externship soon sucks. plus, her diagnosis of bipolar 1 I’m also afraid that she will go manic again. sorry for the bother.

21:08 What are some questions to ask when looking for a good ABA provider?

27:58 How do we find out what providers are only interested in what is best for our child and doing things in a “fair” way.

33:33 What is ABA?

39:51 My 4.5 y.o. speaks mostly in 4-7 word sent., can answer many intraverbal questions (including many how & why), & has a good albeit still delayed vocab. But he still struggles to have conversations.

When is a reasonable expectation for when he could converse? He just wants to talk about his interests, which is fine, but I also want to have a conversation someday.

Oh, he asks lots of different questions to us too (although that only happened in the past few months). It's trouble sustaining back and forth.

48:20 What’s the best way to get my son from using a sippy cup? He’s two years old and three months

49:37 My 3 yr. old is not feeling well at all he has had a horrible runny nose and a wet cough now for 2 days ...he just looks miserable and I haven’t been able to help him .....just checked his temperature and it says 100.6 ...i just can’t get him to swallow any type of medicine ...and its making me so sad ....he only drinks water and milk so I’ve tried mixing medicine in there but he notice it so he won’t take it ...he doesn't eat apple sauce or yogurt so i cant mix it in there ... he has an appointment tomorrow at 9 but i just wish i can get him to take medicine....how do u guys do it when your kids r sick and dont like medicine.

In this segment of Ask Dr. Doreen, Dr. Doreen Granpeesheh, BCBA-D Phd, discusses autism diagnosis, Hyperlexia, Trauma and more! Don't miss it!

6:56 Does it Get Better?

I’ve never posted but it’s getting so hard for me to deal with my son. I guess I’m just here to vent..sorry its so long and jumbled together. My son is 4 years old and we have an evaluation scheduled for Thursday with our developmental pediatrician. I know he is autistic but am hoping we get an actual diagnosis. He has a few stims that he does when he is excited or mad, he gets frustrated so easily and has meltdowns, he avoids eye contact, he likes to smash his face into us when he’s mad, he has trouble with transitions, he is verbal but doesn’t communicate.. I could go on. Does it get better? Will he speak in complete sentences? How do I exist w/o being miserable? Will we ever be able to do things as a family, like going to a pumpkin patch, going to an indoor play area, meeting Santa, etc? (We went to a pumpkin patch recently and omg it was horrible) Will he ever understand birthdays or Christmas? I feel so much guilt for not being happy with the children I have. I often wonder if this is karma. Or that maybe I was never supposed to have kids. (I went through 4 rounds of IVF for my son) I feel like the depression is ruining everything - my marriage, my connection with my kids (because lately I’ve just wanted to walk away rather than keep trying to engage) and my life. It’s hard to make friends as I am just triggered when I see their neurotypical children. My 2 special needs kids are not really interested in each other and it breaks my heart. This is not what I pictured. I have siblings and am very close with them. I guess my heart just breaks every day and I grieve the life that I know we will not have. Thanks for listening. I really hope things get better because I don’t know how to do this 10 years down the road.

25:05 Autism is neurodiversity then why it is treated as behavior problem?

33:21 I have a very specific question. Every allergy season my son gets super sick and he doesn’t know how to blow his nose, any tips?

36:43 Hi Dr Doreen, what is the correlation hyperlexia and autism? Is it a predictor of functioning level?

39:14 When my daughter was diagnosed with mild autism the therapist said her language delay was due to the autism and had nothing to do with cognitive impairment. He also said that she would catch up to her peers and I shouldn’t worry about it too much since her case is pretty mild. He did however recommend ABA therapy. When I was having the assessment interview with the ABA therapist she recommended 40 hours a week which is way higher than I assumed my daughter would need (since she has such a mild case), and she also said my daughter is at the level expected of an 18 month old. My daughter is 2.5. I really wasn’t expecting this. I know my daughter is behind but to hear that she’s like an 18 month old was jarring and I’m worried now that my daughter will have struggles beyond the challenges she’ll face being autistic. I guess I just don’t understand the huge discrepancies between the two therapists and now I’m freaked out. Does this mean she has a cognitive or intellectual impairment as well as autism?

41:58 The mind does not switch off, so sometimes the alcohol sometimes switches off the brain. People sometimes don’t understand the strength of the brain with Autism. I don’t wish to say to much but I know lots of things that I have learnt. But what I find is that most, don’t understand how my brain is running at 1000 miles an hour from waking to sleep and sometimes in sleep because of the day. I can watch one thing and never forget it. Unless I suppress it. I also work like a computer with a data bank of information I can recall if needed.

47:06 Any advice on how to stop licking my child started this behavior licking their hand and wiping the saliva over their face the behavior started with a series of colds and now continues although well.

Likes to use wet wash cloth as well if not licking.

55:16 Son refuses to go in bath tub. He is not afraid of water. ABA does water protocol. He is afraid of tub . Where do I start. He is so traumatized from last bath which we had to wash hair.

5:04 Autism & Dealing with Neighbors For some context, I live in a basement apartment with my husband and our dog who as well as being a service animal, loves kids and is very mild-mannered. We have been having issues with our upstairs neighbors since November in regards to loud stomping, furniture being slammed, and loud screaming. I have been up to talk to them about it several times and last night I reached my breaking point. I went upstairs to ask them to please stop stomping as my husband works early mornings and was trying to sleep for work. When she opened the door I could see that the small two-bedroom apartment had no less than six adults and four kids inside of it. I calmly asked them to stop the stomping and since this is the third time I have had to ask in the last four months, the next time it got this bad I would be lodging a complaint with the property management company. My neighbor had a friend over who has a 3-year-old who is on the spectrum and was the one stomping the hardest and causing the most amount of noise. Her friend gets a sour look on her face and started chirping at me from across the room. Friend: You live in a basement apartment and he has autism, what the hell do you expect me to do there is going to be some noise. Me: Ok, I get that I live in the basement but stomping until picture frames fall off my walls is a different story. please help me

20:08 What Happens to My Child After I Die? Support for adult autistic patient who is stable, living with parent at home. He ia motivated to go to his work on MWF by bus, gets up, dresses, eats breakfast, gets bus by himself. Does household chores and hits all expectations in a timely manner. Socializes well with adults and enjoys cultural activities. Problem: what happens when parent passes? How can we make plans for him (now 59 yoa) in the case of losing his single parent (79 yoa). What preparations can be made? How can he be prepared for the loss of his dad? He does not want to live by himself. So. What can we do to prepare him for another situation?

37:58 Hello Shannon, Dr. Doreen! Thank you for always trying to help us! My son is 4+ non verbal, regressed around 20 months and attends ABA at CARD San Antonio. From your previous advice about getting a stool test done to check if there is a yeast overgrowth to rule out yeast as the reason for my son's no-reason laughing spells. We got a comprehensive stool study ordered by a functional med Dr and there was no yeast issues in the results. But some issues with mal-absorption for which a specific strain of probiotics (L Reuteri) with vit D has been prescribed. After a week of using them, he has diarrhea, earlier he had hard stools. should we hold on to the probiotics or continue even with the diarrhea? PS. he is still on the GFCFSF , reduced sugars diet

41:14 Hi I want to ask Dr. Grandpeesheh about my son qho was diagnosed with autism at 31 months. We live in South Africa. My son never responded to his name, he would spin himself around, he lined up toys and would play with them in strange ways. My son would be distracted by the smallest sounds and would hate weird textures on his hands. He would also hate to be hugged and only had 2 words by the age of 3. My son just turned 5 and now I'm starting to question his diagnosis. He has been in aba therapy, speech and OT for 2 years. Now at 5 he loves going to the playground and playing with other kids. My son always manages to find a friend. His speech is still delayed but I can have a conversation with him and I feel he will soon catch up to his peers. My son has never had a meltdown. He loves playing with dough an sand now. Doesn't seem to have sensitivity to sounds anymore and loves hugging his mom and I. He is completely different now. I just don't understand it. He is in mainstream and his teachers say he is a pleasure to have in class and he is super confident when answering questions. Do you feel he might have been misdiagnosed?

49:49 What do goals look like for older kids? We stopped at 9 because I felt like I had a handle on it.

4:36 I have a 3 yr old. He has bad gut health, has to make food changes & move towards veggies which he hates. How can I introduce veggies w/out a smoothie option? He has major yeast belly Any suggestions?

13:42 I have a job interview coming up soon how do I mask so that I seem normal so people can't tell something off with me??? Please

23:40 Special needs guy (35m) has crush me (20m) and won’t leave me alone When I started the job back in August I would push carts in the parking lot and even then he would stick to me like glue. I now work as a cashier in the store but he still hangs around me even helping me by bagging people’s stuff even though I didn’t ask him to. At first I didn’t mind him and was nice to him but now he thinks we’re best friends and follows me to my car when leaving. Every time we see each other around he always says hi even if we literally just did this 30 seconds prior. He always tells me to pull my mask down so he can see my face and asks to hang out outside of work. What really makes me uncomfortable now is that sometimes when saying bye to each other he says “I love you” quietly but I can still hear him, and he tries to go for physical contact. I even spot him watching me when I’m in my car on my break. I try ignoring him but I can’t really do that when he’s breathing down my neck. I don’t know if I should be direct with him and tell him to leave me alone cause I’m not sure if I’ll get written up/fired for being mean to him cause it has happened here before, but I don’t know the details. I really wish I was never nice to him in the first place cause I kinda brought this upon myself. I also don’t know what kind of disability he has.

34:22 I know you have previously addressed proper wiping for an 8 year old, but I have an 8th grader that still does not do it correctly. We have tried many reward systems, but it's just a matter of time before they stop working. He understands how and when we talk about it he just says he is being lazy. He is in regular ed with friends and afterschool activities. I can smell it as soon as he gets home. I'm scared he will be teased and cannot believe he hasn't already! He also struggles with other areas of personal hygiene (teeth and showering). He will go weeks without brushing his teeth (says it's 'unnecessary" and throws tantrums on shower day. Again, have tried rewarding him after completion. Why are these tasks so difficult for him? Any tips would be greatly appreciated! PS.. he has a typically developing younger and older brothers that model proper hygiene for him. How do we make him care?

38:58 I feel SO bad about this... should I though? So, my son gets in home therapy and he actually really loves it. However, a while back I had to tell the main lady at the office that one woman really wasn't working out. she was really a cool person, but she wasn't actually doing anything with my son but sitting there and playing on her phone. so i said it wasn't working... nbd. Now, though... he has three that come over and he loves them, they play with him, we've seen great strides in many aspects of his life... well... they just included a 4th person and to be quite frank, she's rude and disrespectful to my whole household.

48:50 My son is 9 yes old autistic , lately he has been acting different, sexually, he acts out physically grinding , at first I thought he was exploring , but now he seems to call names , he  says  nasty words, and he wants me to kiss him or he push his my head down. I am not married at this time and no man is coming to my house for him to see this behavior. He his visits his dad (everyday), I asked dad if he has any thing to say about that and he said, no he wouldn’t see any thing like that. I am so confused to is this normal or should I be concerned.

54:10 Good morning, my almost 11 year old has high functioning ASD. One of our biggest challenges is his false/exaggerated memories of events. They are always negative, never positive. For example, we will bring him to basketball (which he loves and always excited to go) and he will report how awful practice was and how much he hates it, and we "make him do things he hates" but then 2 days later he is back to being excited to go to practice and runs inside. He does this for most activities.

THERE IS NO BACK SPACE KEY GET TO YOUR LAB TEST RESULTS PLEASE CAN REPORT IT TO ANYONE TO THE DOCTORS TO THE HR & CEO STAFF :)

Where do I go to report Doctors?

11:48 My son's teeth forms plague quiet often, it's because he doesn't let me brush it properly at night. I hate exposing him to dental clinic more often but I can't I recently noticed he forms plagues again. Is everybody else has the same issue like me? Dental offices are full toxicity as they use different chemicals. I am not sure what to do, any suggestion please?

20:20 What about the dental instruments, I heard they are made of aluminum and my son's test shows high toxicity so this is another concern for me putting the aluminum instruments in his mouth more often? what is your thought?

23:41 My son is 8 and he is going to an inclusive school with a shadow. And He is scream when He does not get his way. He has found a new way to communicate what He needs by yelling Help me. What can we do so He can stops this behavior? Thank you.

He is functionally verbal not conversational yet.

He also squeeze the shadows hands and my hands very hard when He is upset and frustrated.

30:49 Hello, so happy to have you both. I have a question about my 11yr old son with autism, he’s obsessed with toilets and hand dryer, when we go out he wants to use the bathroom more than once and If we go to different places he wants to use all the bathroom available to him, it can get hard because some days I just have enough time to run in and out of a place. If he can’t use it he’ll get mad.

He can hold his pee for a very long time so I know sometimes he does not need to go, I let him go at least once when we go out sometimes two times. He draws the toilets and knows the different brands.

When we sometimes don’t let him go more then once he’ll get mad and say I’m still going to use the bathroom, or if I go use it by myself what happens, he says it in a threatening kind of way. Sometime

It’s very hard to just go out to more then one place. He says he loves toilets and hand dryers. How can we help with these obsessive thing that is also needed, thanks in advance.

37:43 Hello, thank you for your work and what you do, my son is 9yrs old, diagnosed with Autism since he was 3 and we moved from North Carolina to Philadelphia area, and we are looking for ABA Tharapy, do you have a facility in Philadelphia area?

40:27 My son just diagnosed 3 months ago at 7 even though it’s been obvious he is Autistic and severe ADHD. Now trying to get him services is a challenge the school isn’t providing ABA or OT to him 1:1.

The medical side says he can’t get the amount of services needed as the school has to do the school behaviors but they aren’t what can I do to get him what he needs and has been robbed of?

45:49 my ten year old won't poop on the toilet what can I do?

51:41 how to deal with escape behavior ? it could be any where any situation mostly the escape behavior is they are not interested in and that could be a learning experience where care giver wants to teach

55:18 How can I teach my son to play with others? it is a nightmare on playground, he is pushing others kids he will be 4in a week
